About

The Site

I started the original chuvatech.com at Blogger as soon as I discovered blogging. Initially, it was to serve as my personal reference for the tools and tricks a webmaster would use to create a web site.

It was when the Google Adsense checks started coming in that I though to myself, “The good news must be shared with everyone I know!” You can ask folks who know me offline how much I keep encouraging everyone to build their own web site both for the pleasure of providing useful information for the world to share — and the ease with which monetization models like adsense get give you a serious income from sharing your passions.

Then the site became a hybrid: I used static/html pages for the tutorial (to give focus) and a subdomain for a WordPress blog for the articles relevant to the main site. But I found it tedious for myself, and I am sure for site visitors, to be switching back and forth from blog to web site, so I decided to consolidate all the pages into one WordPress blogging platform.

Thus you will find the tutorial in sequential pages and a dynamic home page featuring a static (fixed) welcome message (I did this by editing the home.php file, FYI) and dynamic content (the most recent blog posts) below it.

Eventually I got my own hosting and moved all my blogs to WordPress. My other blogs as of this writing are: Baguio Insider, and Divi Diva

I also have designed other web sites, namely: Go Baguio! Your Complete Guide to Baguio City, GoDumaguete! (under development), Atenara House, Lasik Eye Surgery in Asia & the Philippines

In building these sites I have used different web hosts, multiple platforms and site builders, but all of them have in common Search Engine Optimization techniques, which are hugely important when it comes to getting one’s site found and ranked on the web.

So you will find that for Chuvatech a lot of the blog articles will be less of a technical how-to (you can contact your web host for the different concerns you may have, which may or may not be unique to the service that you have chosen) but more on SEO.

You see, if you do SEO right, you can get a lot of site visitors for FREE, without having to resort to advertising on the web, which can be an expensive undertaking.

Of course we will also be concentrating on the different monetization modes so you can profit from your efforts and the expense of maintaining a web site. But the monetization come later — after you have built a good site to begin with.

The only thing ordered or sequential at Chuvatech would be the tutorial on Building a Profitable Website, the other articles are published as they are written, which I hope would be in a timely manner for the benefit of those who are using this site to make money online for themselves.

So eventually, I decided to develop this site for the benefit of everyone who is interested in an online income, especially for my countrymen, the Filipinos, who are intelligent, fluent in English, opinionated and,  above all, a very generous people.

It is no longer enough to just create an information website anonymously (that’s too 90s!). Site visitors want to know who their resource is, will want to check out the webmaster’s credibility before ‘buying’ the information or idea being ’sold’ therein.

In each of my sites, I do publish an About Page, revealing my particular and personal ‘expertise’ on the site topic/s.

Know now that I do not call myself an internet marketing guru. I do not even foresee turning my name into a ‘dotcom’ as others have (johnchow.com, shawncasey.com, ewenchia.com, etc) in the future.

However, I am earning an income that I am happy with from my niche sites. Of course, it helps when I show folks offline the Google Adsense checks in Philippine Pesos I used to receive (now I choose to receive Google payments in dollars via Western Union or by mail). When I do this, suddenly folks listen more intently to the benefits of building a website, on the potential of the internet.

Chuvatech is here to tell the world that even those websites coming from Third World Countries, those websites that are non-US-based can be profitable. After all, this is the World Wide Web!

I am here to get you started on your website building ‘business,’ to help you turn your passion into profit. I will reveal to you all the tools I use (that of course are designed to minimize your costs and maximize your profits). The sky is the limit as far as your web income is concerned.

You simply have to take the first step.

The Webmaster, Lisa A.
