Get Started With Your WordPress Blog

Do You Want a WordPress Blog Like This One?

It’s pretty easy. It took me less than an hour to get my first site up and running because almost all web hosts have a service called Fantastico that does a one click installation of WordPress in your account.

You can get a free blog at WordPress.com but you will not be allowed to put ads in your web site. So, if you want to make money online with WordPress you have to get a web host. No need to worry, though, because web hosting is inexpensive and you can have multiple sites in just one hosting account.

1. Get Hosting

Choose one of these recommended web hosting companies.

An Hosting.

AN Hosting is recommended by numerous open source projects including WordPress, Mambo, Sub Dreamer, b2evolution and others.

In fact, I signed up with them originally because of the WordPress recommendation and, in the two years that they have hosted my sites, I can wholeheartedly say that I am completely happy with their service, especially the exceptional support service, which is of utmost importance for newbies!

MidPhase

When Midphase designs their products, they do so with the average small business in mind, knowing that folks want to be able to build a website and setup E-mail without paying a designer to do it for them. Midphase comes packed with a whole lot of features and options, and they even have packages for a “hands-free” website and web store design.

Midphase Hosting, a member of the Chicago BBB and the BBB OnLine program, is simply one of the best web hosts around.

HostGator

When HostGator claims amazing features, they don’t lie! One of the features I like that you can ‘try before you buy’ is their site builder, which comes as a great add-on in case you want to build a static web site, too, using just one hosting account.

And, as a special offer for those of you who are just starting out, you can get started with your WordPress blog for just one cent! That’s right — when you sign up for hosting, just type in the coupon code “wordpress” to get your first month billed at only $.01!

With a long list of regular features plus a lot that are unique only to their company,  HostGator eats up the competition!

2. Install WordPress Via Fantastico

(you can find this in your hosting account cpanel or control panel)

3. Upload a Theme

(that you have downloaded for free from the web)

4. Log-on to Your Site

(this URL is usually http://your-site.com/wp-admin)

5. Activate a Theme

(you can find default and uploaded themes in your WordPress Dashboard: Design > Themes)

6. Start Writing Posts and/or Pages and Publish

(see, if you can email, you can have a blog site, the formatting buttons are more or less the same)

Note:

Support for installations via Fantastico are provided by your web host, while support for WordPress can be found in the WordPress.org Support Forums that you can access straight from your blog dashboard. Then of course, there are many helpful articles available on the web to help you along.

To make money online via your WordPress blog, you should still look into the different aspects included in Building a Profitable Web Site: finding your niche, optimizing your site, adding content, monetizing it and promoting it.

WordPress just makes creating your site simple and fast.
