Get Your Own Domain Name

SHOULD I BUY A COUNTRY SPECIFIC DOMAIN?

Let’s face it, the .com is the most popular. Simply because that’s the domain name extension EVERYONE started with at the onset of the internet, and what everyone still prefers to use.

As the good .coms got bought up fast, the .net and .org extensions appeared. Now there are many more, like .info, or .mobi

And then there are the country specific domain name extensions like .co.uk or .com.ph or even .ph

The .com.ph and the .ph sells for $35.00/year with a 2-year minimum. Why so expensive, you ask? Because a lot of the good domain names are probably still available.

Pricing basically follows the laws of supply and demand. With a .com you will be hard put to find a short, meaningful, catchy domain name. Since the supply is now limited, then .coms are no longer selling at the $35.00 level that was 2003. You can get them way cheaper nowadays.

If your website or business caters to the local community, such as a restaurant or food delivery business, then it makes sense to get a country-specific domain. Folks will not look for pizza delivery from pietro-pizza-parlor.com, for example if it they think it is located in another country.

I prefer finding a .com, it’s easier to market offline and easier to type. If you are catering to an international audience, this is still, for me, the best.

CONCLUSION

Since domain names come pretty cheap these days, you have very little to lose buy buying your domain name TODAY! And before someone else gets it.

In my local currency how much will a “” be equivalent to? Just slightly higher than a cellphone prepaid card! And this is for one whole year’s domain registration already!
