OPTIMIZING YOUR
SITE FOR SEARCH ENGINES
Why is this topic here? Shouldn't optimizing your site come after Adding Content? My answer is NOPE!
When I built my first website, my initial concern was HOW WILL VISITORS FIND MY SITE OUT OF ALL THE 1,700,000 SITES THAT REFERENCE MY KEYWORD?
So I knew instinctively that the Field of Dreams "If You Build It They Will Come" is just for the movies. The reality of the internet is more like, if you build the most informative site about your topic and the search engines love you enough to rank you high, only then do you stand a good chance of getting found by visitors on the web.
So now we know that you have to build the most informative site that the search engines will love. You have full control over the informative site phase, and the search engines have control over whom they want to rank high.
The good news it, all the tools you need for that part are found on the web. These are called search engine optimization (SEO) techniques. In fact, as in the case of mighty Google, they actually included that in the Google Webmasters Tools.
